Clothes Drop

We are excited to have embarked on a collaborative clothing collection fundraising initiative with several other service providers, coordinated by Inclusion BC. We set out to make further progress towards our mission by creating an independent revenue stream for innovation in service delivery.

You may have noticed our donation bins popping up in the Metro Vancouver area, where we have already collected thousands of pounds of clothing, accessories, shoes, bedding and towels (we accept ripped or torn items too). The goods we collect are delivered to Value Village, and we are compensated for each pound delivered.

We make collection easy by offering street-side bins, smaller exterior bins, portable indoor containers and clothing drives. We are also actively pursuing partnerships with non-profits, businesses, schools, and condo/strata boards to explore how they might host bins in their various locations. Not only does this initiative enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities, but by sharing a portion of our profits with other community partners, we are enhancing their lives and furthering the causes close to their hearts as well.

Environmental Impact

By donating your items, you are not only helping people, you’re also helping the environment! Each year, Value Village diverts 650 million pounds of waste from the landfill through bin collections. That’s equivalent to 13,000 cedar trees!

  • Clothing and household textiles currently make up 5.2% of the waste in landfills.
  • 85% of recyclable clothing is being thrown away.
  • Recycling clothing and textiles decreases the use of natural resources, such as water used in growing crops and petroleum used in creating new clothing and textiles.
