Home Share Provider (Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Richmond)

A Home Share Provider’s role is to:

  • Provide a safe, warm, inclusive and healthy environment
  • Be a positive role model, offer supports that are respectful and sensitive and provide structure and stability
  • Have experience or training in supporting persons with developmental disabilities, FASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and mental health issues and may provide assistance in the following areas:
    • Personal care
    • Medications
    • Shopping
    • Transportation
    • Maintaining relationships and family connections
    • Financial management
    • Food preparation
    • Managing healthcare needs
    • Recreational activities in community
    • Goal setting

About YOU

  • You reside in Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, or Richmond and can offer a long-term supportive home.
  • You have professional or personal experience helping others achieve their goals.
  • You hold a current and valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • You have a current criminal record clearance.
  • You possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle insured for
    business use with a minimum of $3,000,000 third-party liability coverage.
  • You are committed to completing required training upon successful prescreening.
  • You can provide both professional and personal references.

About the Position

posAbilities encourages all prospective Home Share Providers to seek information about the roles and responsibilities associated with becoming a Shared Living Provider with our organization. All applications will be carefully reviewed and all living situations will be considered, such as a bedroom in a shared family home, an apartment, a basement suite, or a private suite.

This is a contracted position with compensation based on funding from Community Living of British Columbia (CLBC). Rates are determined by individual support needs and typically vary from $1630-$2770. The actual amount may be higher or lower depending on room and specific services provided. Additionally, individuals pay a user fee for room and board.

Priority will be given to applicants who meet the following one or more qualifications:

  • Accessible homes (wheelchair ramps, flat entryway etc.)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or experience in communicating with deaf and hard of hearing individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience in supporting individuals with addiction with patience, non-judgement, and understanding of providing person-centred, culturally safe supports to those who may be struggling with mental health or toxic drug use disorders
