You should cherish your loved ones every day, but Valentine’s Day is a good day to bring people together to spread the love to everyone (and a good excuse to enjoy some chocolates of course!).

love-day-photos This is exactly what our Community Connectors had in mind when they organized the first ever “Love Day Pop-up Event”. Everyone was welcome to join in and greet commuters with love songs and treats at Commercial/ Broadway Skytrain station in Vancouver. We sang many love songs (old and new), gave out love grams with messages to warm up everyone’s hearts and also handed out chocolate and other yummy goodies. One of the Connectors also brought along her cute puppy – that’s always a crowd pleaser!

Spotlight Jake, our Arts Correspondent Extraordinaire, was there to capture the event on film. Check it out!

Later in the evening, our Stage Door Troupe put on their annual Valentine’s Dance at Heritage Hall. The dance had a great turnout and everyone had a great time! DJ Heart BEAT played some nostalgic love songs, old and new. Many folks were dressed in red, which matched the balloons and streamers that brightly decorated the walls. The new lasers at Heritage Hall shone fireflies on the walls, which added to the already lively atmosphere.

On Valentine’s Day, there is no holding back and it is acceptable to indulge in large amounts of guilty pleasures. So cookies, chocolates and other treats were handed out and sold throughout the evening. And of course, what dance is complete without a dance-off? We had many participants shaking their booty for prizes!

Did you miss the Valentine’s Dance? Well don’t worry because Stage Door has their Crazy Hat Dance coming up on April 17th. Check out our poster for more details, and help spread the word!
