Twice a year, we recognize team members who have made exceptional contributions and embody our core values: person-centred thinking, inclusion, learning, and excellence. The Believe, Engage & Inspire Awards celebrate and reward team members for going above and beyond.
Congratulations to our outstanding award winners, who we honoured on November 22nd!
The fall 2019 awards go to…
BoBae Kim | Engage Award
BoBae is person-centered in all her actions. She shows incredible dedication to the people we support and goes the extra mile during work hours and on her own time. For example, when she had an extra concert ticket, her first thought was to take along music-loving Marty from Broadway House. She only supported him periodically through programs and casual shifts, but knew he loved classic rock. They both had a great time at the concert! BoBae takes the time to get to know individuals, helping to build meaningful, reciprocal connections.
Carl Deleon | Inspire Award
Carl from posAbilities Employment Service demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to his team members. When training new staff, he provides exceptional support and coaching and helps new hires quickly gain confidence in their roles. Carl’s positive energy and sense of humour have proven to be contagious. He is highly motivated and engaged, inspiring others to follow suit. His actions encourage staff to give that extra bit of support to new team members and set an example for the whole organization!
Mariette Roberts | Engage Award
Mariette consistently finds ways to engage with others and give back to the community. After the closure of our Don’t Sweat It Services, she still embraced clothing donations and distributed donations to shelters and community groups on her own time. Earlier this year, she took the lead on a car wash project hosted by Broadway House persons served and staff, the proceeds of which went to benefit the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. She asked the individuals from Broadway House how they wanted to participate and got them involved delivering posters throughout the community. After the car wash, the group got to visit the Food Bank to donate the $843 dollars raised—they even had their picture taken with an oversized check! Her extra effort makes a truly positive impact at Broadway and in the wider community.
Zach Jansen | Engage Award
Zach from Can-Do goes above and beyond the scope of his job as a Day Support Worker. He takes time to get to know the individuals who attend the program, even those who are not regular attendees. Zach frequently demonstrates his commitment to inclusion—for example, by reaching out to an individual with a shared interest who’d been to Can-Do’s Friday Jams and meeting with him on his own time. He is person-centred in his practices and creates new opportunities for inclusion through his thoughtful actions.
A big round of applause to BoBae, Carl, Mariette, and Zach! Your efforts inspire us all and we’re so proud to have you with us.

Hi Aruna – Thanks for posting about your colleague, Memo! Perhaps you’d like to formally nominate him for an award? Info is currently up on the Sharevision homepage, and if you have any questions, email: awards@posAbilities.ca – thanks for your kind words 🙂
I nominate Memo from Columbia House as the best staff. He is very kind and helpful to all the staff. He makes a new staff feel very relaxed and comfortable to work with. He greets all the individuals in his care with respect and dignity. And All of them has smile and laughter on their face as soon as Memo enters the house. Even the staff feels very happy to see him. He deserves the best and needs to be recognized.
