Every year in October, the historic and elegant Heritage Hall on Main and 15th in Vancouver becomes an area of social gathering for artists and art lovers alike. It is where we celebrate our INCLUSION Art Show and Sale. Held during Community Inclusion month in BC, the Art Show is a springboard for connection and collaboration. Artists display and sell their magnificent pieces through which they tell their unique and personal stories.

posAbilities’12th Annual INCLUSION Art Show and Sale is set to take place on October 26th from 5:00-8:00pm and October 27th from 11:00-7:00pm. You will see the creations of more than 200 artists who work independently or in studios supported by Community Living organizations across Metro Vancouver. Some of these studios include:

  • Alternative Creations Studio, artists at large (posAbilities)
  • PotteryWorks (Community Living Society)
  • Developmental Disabilities Association
  • Avenues (Richmond Society for Community Living)
  • Bridge Art Studio (Langley Association for Community Living)
  • Vicuna Studio (Ridge Meadows Association for Community Living)
  • Semiahmoo House Society

Taking place on both the main and downstairs floors of Heritage Hall, our 12th exhibition is twice the size of our past shows! The upstairs will feature original pieces produced in various media such as paintings, collages, illustrations, photography, pottery, art cards, jewelry, glassware and textiles. No two pieces of art at the show are the same; each demonstrate the distinct creative process of the artist who crafted it. Additionally, various art demonstrations will be held downstairs throughout the second day of the show. By watching these demonstrations, you will be able to witness the creative process of artists first hand!

Throughout the years, we have been developing our dream of an inclusive arts community through generous corporate and community support.  We would like to thank the British Columbia Government Employees Union (BCGEU) for their generous support and involvement over the past few years as our Gold Sponsor.

We’re also excited to be partnering with Project EveryBODY – a collaboration amongst different community organizations and nonprofits, led by Open Door Group, with a focus on community inclusion for people of all abilities. They will be on site at the show helping run a live community weaving project that everyone can participate in.

Not only will you be able to co-create our group project, but you will also be treated to some live music! Back by popular demand, local accordion player, Katheryn Peterson, is scheduled to play on our opening night. She delighted our guests last year by weaving her way through the crowd with her musical talents and she can’t wait to come back and do it again!

View fabulous art, meet the artists and connect with art lovers in your community.  The 2016 INCLUSION Art Show and Sale will be our largest and best show yet and we can’t wait for you to join us. This event is open to the public and admission is by donation. For more information, please visit www.inclusionartshow.com.
