Yes, we can help you find the right government contact or an advocate to support you through the process.
If you’re applying for services for a child or youth:
- Start by asking for a Social Worker for Children and Youth with Additional Support Needs through Children and Family Development (CFD).
- If you’re between the ages of 16–24, you may also qualify for help from a Navigator. Navigators help you and your family plan for adulthood and connect you to services across different ministries (like health, housing, and education). They can also help you start your funding applications.
For older adults who are eligible for Community Living BC services, the first step is to contact an Intake Facilitatorin your area. Additional support can be provided by the Facilitator who is assigned to you after your application is accepted/eligibility confirmed. Community-based organizations like Inclusion BC, Family Support Institute, or Diverse Family Roots will journey beside you as you prepare your application to prove eligibility, or if you believe your request for service needs to be more urgently attended to. We would be happy to introduce you to advocates.
Our role comes a little later in the process, once you have funding and have decided you’d like services offered by posAbilities. At that point, we work with all involved, including the funder, to get your services started.
