As summer is officially over and fall is in full swing, Halloween lovers are getting into the spirit by decorating their houses, carving their jack-o’-lanterns and donning their best costumes.  And while many get cozy on the couch with their Netflix scary movie marathons, others will head out to party!  Why not join in on the fun with a couple of our Halloween themed events happening around town!

Supported Living Network’s (SLN) “Buddy Club” will gather tomorrow on Thursday, October 30th at 7pm for their monthly group meetup at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen’s classical garden.  Judge Dee’s Chinatown Haunted House will take over Vancouver’s famous garden as over a dozen actors, dancers and musicians seek to delight thrill-seekers with murder-mystery tales from Tang Dynasty China.  The show tells stories inspired by the famous detective who is sometimes referred to as China’s Sherlock Holmes.

Buddy Club - Pub NightEarlier this year, SLN colleagues, Tina, Danzante and Rosemary came together to start this new initiative – “Buddy Club” – for the persons whom we serve.  Tina explains how their slogan, ‘Meet a buddy, Bring a buddy, Be a buddy’ exemplifies their objective to help expand social lives through the networking, building and strengthening of natural (unpaid) supports.  The group gathers each month and encourages supported persons to bring a ‘buddy’ if they have one, or to meet other peers who might become new buddies.  With a successful year under their belt, the momentum continues to grow as each month features new and exciting community events that are both affordable and accessible.  Some of their past outings include pub nights, bowling at Rev’s and trips to Grouse Mountain!  Tina is thrilled that they are now starting to see more familiar faces and returning “Buddies” at each meetup.  The “Buddy Club” welcomes you to join them for their special Halloween event!  For more information, check out their poster and to RSVP, please call 604-375-4935 – admission is only $12!

If you’re feeling extra adventurous then head on over to Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street, Vancouver) the following day on Friday, October 31st at 6:30pm for Stage Door’s annual dance, “Halloween Howl”!  Join the Stage Door gang and DJ Living Dead Beat for their highly-anticipated Halloween event as they dance the night away to some scary tunes.  Don’t forget to purchase your tickets in advance as this event is one of their busiest of the year!  Tickets are only $10 in advance, or $12 at the door.  For more details, check out their poster or call 604-872-1252.
