We’re always on the lookout for individuals who enjoy challenging and life changing work that fosters community inclusion for persons served. So we’re very excited to announce that we’re running a recruitment campaign throughout March!

To kick things off, we would like to take this opportunity to appreciate some of our current team members who go above and beyond their role to help us achieve our mission and strategic objectives. Congratulations to our “Believe, Engage and Inspire” award winners Darren Frisk and our Selkirk Centre for Community Engagement staff team!

Darren Frisk was awarded for being an excellent role model for staff and persons served as he always puts person-centeredness first. He is patient, affable, positive and actively shows how much he cares about our persons served. He goes above and beyond his regular job description, manages his very busy schedule and is always available to help and problem solve, especially after hours and during emergencies. He is an excellent teacher and remains diplomatic when dealing with a variety of situations with staff. He is greatly appreciated by staff as he ensures they enjoy the work they do and encourages them to be the best they can be.

The Selkirk Centre staff team was also rewarded for their outstanding commitment and dedication to organizing last summer’s community event – “Creating Cooperative Community”. The team came together and coordinated all aspects of the event – everything from communications, to developing partnerships and sponsorships with local businesses, to organizing games and prizes for participants, to choreographing the flash mob and much more! They also ensured persons served were involved throughout the whole process, which included delivering invitations to local businesses and taking on various other event planning duties!
