Join friends, family and the greater community as we celebrate our 10th Annual INCLUSION Art Show featuring the works of BC artists with disabilities on October 22 and 23, 2014 at Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street in Vancouver, BC. This show brings together artists of all capabilities to create works of art that inspire community and dismantle barriers. Our artists with diverse abilities go to the beat of their own drum, to create masterful, beautiful, interesting, provocative, wild, stunning and curious art.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary, we have extended the show to unfold over two days. Beginning on Wednesday, October 22 at 6pm, we will host our first ever semi-formal Art Showcase Fundraiser, a networking soiree that will feature the top 10 original paintings from each of several art studios and independent artists for sale. This event is aimed at fostering relationships between artists, civic and business leaders, and raising funds to support budding artists with diverse abilities. Become a patron of the arts for only $20 by purchasing your ticket here. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $25.
The festivities continue the following day on Thursday, October 23 from 1-8pm for our traditional Celebration of Art. Admission is by donation and everyone is welcome. A wide variety of genres are offered, see beautiful original paintings, pottery, glasswork, photography, illustrations, jewelry, cards, craft items and more. Over 500 pieces will be displayed for sale from several participating studios including: Alternative Creations Studio (posAbilities), PotteryWorks (Community Living Society), Developmental Disabilities Association, Avenues (Richmond Society for Community Living), and BridgeArt (Langley Association for Community Living); as well as several independent artists.
Lifelong artist and mouth painter, Sharon Musto, is excited about having her work featured in this year’s show. Sharon is a local artist from Richmond whose preferred medium is watercolour, but also enjoys working with acrylic. She describes her creative process as something that relaxes her and brings her joy.
Come and celebrate the achievement and passion of these local artists – some of whom have been participating in the INCLUSION art show for a decade! For more details, visit: www.inclusionartshow.com.
posAbilities would like to thank the following 2014 INCLUSION Art Show Sponsors: City of Vancouver, BCGEU, Austin Gourmet, Dawson Service Ltd., and Queen’s Park Dental.
