Celebrates art, inclusion in upcoming show

PosAbilities is inviting people to dip into their paint or medium of choice and tap into their artistic potential for a celebration of art and inclusion.
The organization held a contest to generate excitement for its 9th annual art show, Inclusion, Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Hall in Vancouver.
This year’s theme is “Feelin’ Groovy” and Justine Chubb is jazzed about the submissions posAbilities received.
“Looking at the entries, it’s wonderful to see such talent in these artists,” Justine, communications and special events staff, tells posAbilities Today.
“That was one of the main reasons why we came up with this contest was to get more persons served involved in making art as it’s a great way for them to creatively express themselves and showcase their artistic abilities.”
Artists wishing to participate in the main art show event will be able to register in the fall.
More than 200 people took part in last year’s event. For a glimpse of their work, which includes painting, pottery, candle-making and hand-drawn greeting cards, and to meet the artists, click here.
“The art show is one of our biggest events of the year and truly provides an opportunity for everyone involved to come together and develop new community connections,” Justine says.
“We strive to deliver good company, fantastic artwork, and best of all, a celebration of all that is creative and remarkable in the art work presented by these individuals.”
Justine says posAbilities’ art show committee is eager to make this year’s event the most exciting to date. “As a group we decided on a fun-loving and upbeat ‘Feelin’ Groovy’ theme, so we look forward to incorporating that kind of arts and culture in our event.”
