WHAT IS EXPLORE?
Explore is a dual stream service that focuses on self-discovery, confidence building and independence for adults with developmental disabilities. Explore-Journey is designed for individuals interested in a deep dive discovery of their identity, values, and personal goals; and Explore-Guides is designed for individuals interested in trying new experiences and fostering relationships in the broader community.

What Explore offers
Explore – Journey
- Participants in Explore-Journey work 1:1 with a Journey Facilitator who coaches and supports them throughout service, referring participants to other internal services at posAbilities after 3-4 months in service:
- Curiko – Connecting you to fun and meaningful activities.
- Laurel Supports – Helping you develop social skills, gain more independence, learn about healthy relationships and sexuality and more.
- posAbilities Employment Service – Preparing you for job opportunities.
Explore – Guides
- Participants in Explore-Guides are offered various innovative group experiences in the broader community.
- Explore-Guides focuses on four themes (Place-making, Storybuilding, Skills, Nature) that shape novel experiences and opportunities for growth and connection for participants.
Our hope at Explore / What we’ve seen so far
- After doing a deep dive discovery, participants feel more equipped and confident to navigate the world and engage in activities that reflect their interests and desires;
- Practicing their independence and being in reciprocal relationships prepares people to authentically participate in community spaces; and
- Trying new and novel experiences demonstrates to participants the expansiveness of life opportunities, and in turn, contributes to healthy and flourishing lives.
