We’re excited to share a new chapter for Laurel Supports!
Formerly Laurel Behaviour Support Services, Laurel Supports has launched a refreshed name, visual identity, and website that better reflect the compassionate, person-centred support the team provides to individuals and families across British Columbia.

A New Chapter: Introducing Laurel Supports
For more than 50 years, individuals and families across British Columbia have turned to Laurel for support during some of their most complex moments. Over that time, we have listened, learned, and grown alongside the people we serve.
Today, that evolution is reflected in a new name and a clearer way of describing what we do. Laurel Behaviour Support Services is now Laurel Supports.
This change is not about becoming something different. It is about naming, more simply and more warmly, what has always been true about how we walk alongside the people we support.
Our Story Begins with Care
We began in 1969 as Laurel House, one of the few staffed homes at the time for children and adults with autism. As needs changed, so did we. Over time, we shifted from supporting children in their family homes to providing community-based support—meeting people where life actually happens.
In 2001, we joined posAbilities, opening up more pathways for the individuals and families we support. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse and experienced team of Behaviour Consultants, Coordinators, and Leaders offering services across Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, and the Okanagan.
Why We Updated Our Name
Our former name, Laurel Behaviour Support Services, no longer fully reflects the breadth of who we support today. While behaviour support remains a core part of our work, many people who come to us are often looking for more than a service. They are looking for understanding, reassurance, and support that meets them where they are.
Many individuals and families come to us with important questions:
- Is this safe?
- Will you listen?
- Will you adapt your approach to meet my needs or our family’s needs?
Our new name offers a clearer way of answering those questions. Laurel Supports reflects what we do, who we walk alongside, and how we show up every day. It speaks to our commitment to calm, relational, evidence-based support, offered with care and respect.
How We Landed Here
Over the past year, we partnered with Harc Creative to better understand how people experience Laurel. We listened closely to individuals, families, team members, and community partners to learn what matters most in the moments we share.
What we heard was consistent. People experience our work as steady, compassionate, and safe. At times, our name and visual identity did not fully reflect that experience. This shift brings those pieces into closer alignment with the care already happening every day in homes, schools, and communities.

Looking Ahead
While our name has changed, the heart of our work has not. Our values, respect, diversity, proactive care, collaboration, integrity, and learning, continue to guide how we show up in every relationship and every plan we build together.
Laurel Supports is the next step in a long and thoughtful journey. It honours where we have been and helps us move forward with greater clarity. We will continue to grow alongside the individuals and families we support, believing that meaningful change is always possible and that it happens one relationship at a time.
